Math that fits the morning you planned
A single global difficulty is too blunt. Ember stores the check stack on each alarm, so an ordinary weekday can use quick sums while an earlier start can require more problems or a harder mode.
Faster correct answers can earn a higher wake-up score. The task still has one practical purpose: make dismissal require deliberate input instead of a reflex.
Arithmetic and Marc's Matrices
The standard levels use arithmetic. The highest difficulty uses Marc's Matrices, a more involved number-pattern challenge for mornings when familiar sums have become automatic.
Ember does not claim that solving a problem ends sleep inertia or medically makes the brain wake faster. It simply keeps the wake-up unfinished until the selected task is done.
Combine thinking with getting out of bed
Math can be the whole routine, or one step inside it. Put a code scan first to leave the bedroom, add math in the kitchen, or finish with a walking target.

- Alarms and problems work offline without an account.
- Repeated rings reduce the session score; accurate, faster work can raise it.
